Meal Planning

Meals are one of the most challenging parts of planning for a long hike. Fortunately, there are several supply points along the way. An easy way to think about meals is to make a calendar, with your estimated mileage and elevation changes. This helps you think about how much energy you will expend that particular day, and whether you'll want extra electrolyte drinks or snacks. We offer you a sample of a meal plan with multiple resupply points. this helps you think about what to pack for shipping ahead. If you are fortunate enough to have friends to meet you along the trail like we did, you can have some bread or bagels even in the last days of your trip! No sense being deprived. Descriptions with ** mean there is a recipe available. We've added some links to meal planning books, which give you ideas about creating your personalized menus.
